A Case of Ascariasis in the Common Bile Duct


Abstract
A 29 year-old Korean female, a house wife was admitted to the hospital with the chief complaints of right hypochondriac and epigastric coliky pain, fever; nausea and vomiting which was occured 4 days prior to admission. On physical examination revealed to be; nutrition was poor, the face was pale and slightly icteric, Temp. was 38.5¡ÆC, pulse 100/Min. the abdomen was distended and tender in the right¢¥ hypochondriac and epigastric region, the Liver was palpable on the 2 f. q.b. below the costal margin, otherwise, was within normal limit.
Duodenal sounding was done with an Einhorn¢¥s duodenal juice aspirator and was obtained A,B,C, biles, On microscopic examination of these bites, showed two positive of ascaris ova. Cholecystogram was failed to show any changes.
On the operation, we found two hying ascarides; females ¢¥ lengthi 28.5 cm and 25cm, in the common bile duct and removed it.
The patient was recovered satisfactorily without any complication.
